aI~knowledge of Katres Zagurska since the.year of 1936.
Please be advised that I have never had any contact or communica-
tion with Katres Zagurska and consequently I cannot provide you with
any pertinent information.The only possible contact there would have
been with my family,,,!ould have been through my parents.Unfortunately,
both are now deceased.However,to the best of my recollection,I have
never heard them speak of Katres Zagurska.
¥~parents did commmn1cate with relatives living in Lithuania
shortly before and after the start of World War II.Repeated efforts after
the war resulted in no !:'eplies and my parents assumed the worst had happened~
I cannot state positively if any of this correspondence involved Katres
Zagurska.
Inasmuch as my sister and I shar~the same knowledge of Katres
Zagurska and have jointly discussed your request,we are submitting this
one letter.Separate letters would on~result in duplicate information.

I ref~r to your letter of May 2 expressing your interest
in assisting James C.Bane,attorney,in locating a
Lithuanian heir of the late Anthony Sholinsky.
I regret that the Department lacks the facilities to
locate and identify individuals in foreign countries
who are heirs of American estates.Moreover,although
the forcible incorporation of Lithuania into the Soviet
Union has never been recognized by the United States,
this Government maintains no diplomatic or consular
officers in Lithuania.It does,however,continue to
extend recognition to the diplomatic and consular repre-
sentatives of the last duly constituted government of
Lithuania accredited to the United States.
Nevertheless,we have been informed by the Soviet Ministry
of Foreign Affairs that American citizens who desire
information pertaining ~o individuals in the Soviet Union
(including Lithuania),should communicate directly with
"Inyurkollegiya"(Association of Lawyers of the Moscow
Bar),Tverskoy Bulvar 13,Moscow.Neither the Department
nor the American Embassy at Moscow can assume any
responsibility for the ability or integrity of the
attorneys comprising this Association.However,it is
understood to be the only office within the Soviet Union
from which American citizens may request information
concerning residents of Lithuania.
We suggest that Mr.Bane write to Inyurkollegiya directly,
requesting the information he desires,and send a copy
of h~s letter to the American Embassy at Moscow.If he

fails to receive a reply within a reasonable period of
time,the Embassy will then be in a position,upon
request,to make appropriate inquiries of Inyurkollegiya
on his behalf.

My father Mike Shulin corresponded with Katres
Zagurska for many years.I remember my father telling
me in the early 1930's that the son of Katres Zagurska
had died leaving her alone as her husband had passed
away some time before that.
My Uncle Anthony Sholinsky received a letter in
1934 from my Cousin that we called my Aunt,but has
never received any letter from her to the best of my
knowledge since the letter he received in 1934.All
of our family have felt that Mrs.Zagurska died some
time before World War II since none of us have ever
heard anything from her.I have heard my Cousin
'Anthony Sholinsky and my father say that Mrs.Zagurska
.only had one child,a son,and that he died sometime
in "the 1930's.
