PETITION FOR APPOINTMENT OF A GUARDIAN FOR A
MINOR
TO THE HONORABLE,THE PRESIDENT JUDGE OF SAID COURT:,
The Petition of Mary Lea Reed,age 16 years,in her own
right,and by James J.Reed and Mary F.Reed,her natural parents,
respectfully represents:
1.That Mary Lea Reed was born May 11,1951,in Wheeling,j
Hospital,Wheeling,West Virginia,at a time when her parents were
and still are residents of Donegal Township,Washington County,
Penna.'
2.That said monor is unmarried and since herbirt~,has
resided with her parents at West,Alexander,Pennsylvania,Route 1,
Box 138..
3.That Lelia M.Closser died January 13,1967,and
Mary Lea Reed is one of five residuary legatees and devisees named
in her Will and as such Will be entitled to receive between
$1200.00 and $1400~00~in cash;and an undivided qne-fifth interes
in two pieces of r~~lestate valued in said estate together at
$13;000.00,situate in West Alexander,Pennsylvania,and Donegal
Township,Washington County,Pennsylvania.The Audit in Lelia M.
Closser's estate was held December l2,1967,and a Decree of
Distribution is forth coming.
4.That said minor has no Guardian for her estate at the
present time,and has no other estate or assets except as herein
set forth,and by reason of the abovementioned facts,it is
necessary that a Guardian of her estate be appointed.
5.That Dwight R.Hunter,a second cousin of said minor,
aged 23 years,a dairy farmer residing at Route 1,<West Alexander,
Washington County;Penna.,who is married and owns property,is
proposed as Guardian of the estate of said minor,and has consenter

to act as such~See Consent attached hereto.He is acceptable
to said minor and her parents.
6~That Dwight R.Hunter is not Executor,Administrator
or Trustee of any other estate in which the said minor has an
interest nor Surety for any such fiduciary,and has no interest
adverse to the interest of said minor e
WHEREFORE your Petitioners respectfully request your
Honorable Court to appoint Dwight Re Hunter,Guardian of the
Estate of Mary Lea Reed and to further authorize him to payout
of the money's to be received by him as Guardian,the costs,
attorney's fee and bond premium incidental to this proceeding,
without further Order of Court,and to fix the amount of Surety
Bond to be filed by him prior to receiving said money.

ALL that certain lot or parcel of land situate in
the Borough of West Alexander,Washington County,Pennsylvania,
bounded and described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point along the North side of Main
Street in the Borough of West Alexander,the Western line of Dr.
E.W.Mahan's Lot,thence along the North side of Main street a
distance of 30 feet to a pin marking the new Eastern line of Broad
Alley in said Borough;·thence by said Broad Alley North a distance
of 251 feet,more or less,to a pin along an unnamed Alley running
parallel to Main Street,aforesaid;thence by said unnamed Alley
West a distance of 30 feet,more or less,to the Western line of
Dr.E.W.Mahan's Lot;thence by said lot,South a distance of
251 feet,more or less,to the North side of Main Street,the
Place of Beginning.Upon which is erected a two-story frame house.
ALSO.ALL that certain five (5)foot strip of land
situate in the Borough of West Alexander aforesaid,fronting five
(5)feet on the North side of Main Street and extending back,a
distance of 251 feet,more or less,to an unnamed Alley;bounded

7.That subject real estate is in need of repair,needs
paint,is rented at $50.00 per month,but all the rent has had to
be used to.pay taxes,insurance,and repairs.
8.That said real estate is assessed for County Tax pur-
poses for 1971 at $1800.00,as shown by certificate of Washington
County Tax Assessment Office attached hereto and marked Exhibit B.
9.That your Petitioner has agreed,subject to the
approval of your Honorable Court,to sell said minor's 1/5th
interest in said real estate at private sale to John Morley and
Mary Kathryn Morley,his wife,for $1600.00 cash.
10.That your Petitioner believes $1600.00 is a fair and
good price for said minor's interest in said real estate and a
better price than could be obtained ~t public sale;attached

TO THE HONORABLE,THE·PRESIDENT JUDGE OF SAID COURT:
The Petition of Dwight R.Hunter,Guardian of Mary Lea Reed,a minor,
resPectfully represents:
1.Dwight R.Hunter was appointed Guardian of said minor on January
2nd,1968,by the Orphans'Court"of Washington County,Pennsylvania,and has
filed Surety Bond as directed by the Court in the amount of $2,000.00.
2.That an Inventory filed at the above number and term shows the
assets belonging to said minor and originally in the Guardians hands was
$4,000.OS,of which $2600.00 was the appraised value of said minors one-fifth
interest in two pieces of real estate.
3.That the minors 1/5 interest in one piece of real estate was sold
per Court Order and the Guardian received $1565.00,net from said sale.
4.That ·Mary Lea Reed is a juniOIl in West Liberty State College and
your Petitioner has paid out for her education to date all of the personalty
(all money)originally in his hands except the sum of $4.03.That your
Petitioner still has in his hands the sum of $1545.25 of the money realized
from the sale of the minors 1/5 interest in real estate after paying the costs
relative to the sale of said interest in real estate and"said minor still owns
a 1/5 interest in another piece of real estate appraised at $1400.00.That
said minor will be 21 years of age on May 11,1972.
5.That said minoris in need of funds to pay her~tiion of $325.00
and $40.00 for books,total $365.00,for the second semester of 1971-72,at
West Liberty State Teachers College,her parents being able to pay the rest
of her second semester bills.
WHEREFORE your Petitioner prespectfully requests your Honorable Court to
authorize said Guardian to payout of the money remaining in the Estate of
Mary Lea Reed,the sum of $365.00 on her tuition and books for the second
semester of College at the West Liberty State Teachers College at West Liberty,
West Virginia.

No.347 of 1967 AA,and said award 'was recorded in Deed Book 1272,page
