of the f~ily-three of the~,the son of Sam'l Higinbotham (7)of Redstone
Township (I'm really not absolutely certain of that family name)the son
of Benj.IJyons of SprinGhill Tovmship &the son of Rob't D.Warman of Union-
toV\'1l-&.I hereby give c..:bequeath to each of them the sum of Five hundred
dollars This is a codicil to said will of June 5",1909.

I appoint my son "Ffilliam K.Ewing,Executor and my sister Belle E.
Howell,Executrix of this my will.
I cive my sister Belle E.Howell the use ill1d occupation of my share
and interest in the homestead property,in Uniontown,Pa.,in which she now
resides,so lonG as she may reside therein,and direct that the same be
not sold or othervQse disposed of except with her consent and in conjunction
with her interest therein.
The funds necessary to yrovide the annuities herein given to Belle
Blue 8nd l,lartha Hall (if the latter does not ohoose an institutional home)
shall be set apart and nanaGed and controlled by my executors as trustees
for those purposes.
The word "therein"in the sixth line of the third page of this \vill
refers to the one-half of my reslduary estate there given to the child or
ohildren of my said son,and not to the whole of that est ate.
My exeoutors shall erect suitable markers or stones at my grave.

brothers about which I wish to make certain provisions and arrangements w~ich
may dimini sh my residuary estate and which I do not 'wish to record here,I

brothers"1,vhich may be shovm to all parties directly interested in my estate,
and the directions and provisions in which I wish carried into effect the Sffi~e
as if they were includeQ in this paper,for they are really a part of my
vnll but not suitable for pUblic information.
I direct that the lecacies hereby Given to the Boards of the Presby-
terian Church,Princeton University,my brothers and sister,m~r"<)sisters-in-
law,ny nephew and to my niece sha~l neither be paid nor be payable nor bear
interest until such reasonable time-say not exceeding three years after ny
decease-as my executors may think necessary in order to avoid any sacrifice
or unwise sale or disposition of any of my estate,and particularly of any
coal lands or bank or other stocks.
For the purpose of effecting the provisions of this will I hereby
authorize my executors to brant,bargain,sell,assign,transfer,lease and
convey the whole or any part of my estate as they may deem best,and the proce-
eds thereof to invest,change and reinvest from time to time,avoiding,never-
theless any hasty disposition or sacrifice of coal lands and stocks aS~~bre~-
said.
Any collateral iWleritance tax properly chargeable on the legacies
hereby given shall be paid out of my estate.
To Martha Hall,colored,if I do not other1iIJi se provide for her dur-
ing my life,the sum of One hundred dollars per annum to be paid in quarterly
instalments for ~nd durinc her natural life,or,in lieu t~ereof at her
election,a residenoe and support for life in some hone for abed women,to
be selected and pnrchased b~T ny executors hereinafter named:
To Belle Blue,colored,the sum of Fifty dollars per annum to be paid
in semi-annual instalments for and during her natural life:
To the Fayette County Law IJibrary such of'my law books as may be
desired and not already therein:
A schedule of certain articles of personal property,with directions
as to the disposition I-Lesire made of them,is enclosed herewith marked
"Schedule referred to in ny vnll",and it is my vdsh that said articles be not
included in the inventory of my estate bU~be disposed of as in said schedule
directed,exactly the sa..me as if such disposition were herein fully set forth.
All the rest and residue of my estate,real,personal and mixed of
whatsoever kind and v~leresoever situate I give,devise and bequeath to ny
son \7illiam Kennedy Ewing and his heirs forever,subject to the fore[;oing
and subsequent provisions herein.
In case my said son should die unmarried and before me,then I direct
that my said residuary estate shall be divided into four equal parts one of
which I give,devise and bequeath to my brother Sanuel E.Ewing,one other to
my brother John·K.Ewing,Jr.,one other to my sister Belle E.Howell and the
remaining part to my three sisters-in-law,Mary M.milling,Jennie L.Staples
and Jessie H.Hancock in ,::qual shares.
If,however,my said son should precede me in death and leave a widow
and no child him surviving,then I give,devise and bequeath to his said
widow the same share and interest in ny residuary estate as she would take
under the laws of Pe~nsylvania had my said son died possessed of said resid-
uary estate and intestate,and the remainder of said residuary estate to my
said brothers and sister ~nd sisters-in-law in the proportions afores~id.

I hereby declare this to be my last will and testal 1ent.All my just
debts and funeral expenses shall be paid out of the first funds available
for the purpose.

To The 30ard of Eome Missions of the Presbyterian Church in the
United states of America,incorporated April "19",1872 by Act of the 1egis-
lature of the state of New York,the sum of Ten Thousand dollars.
To the Board of Poreibn 11issions of the Presbyterian Church in the
United states of America the SQ~of Ten Thousand dollars:
To The Presbyterian Board of Relief for Disabled IJinisters and the
~~dows and orphans of deceased ministers the sum of Ten Thousand dollars.
To the Board of Deacons of the Presbyterian Church of Uniontown,Pen-
nsylvania,of which I m:l a member,to be invested by said Board and the
annual interest,dividends end 1ncor1e therefrom to be expended for the re-
lief of the worthy poor of said church and tovvn,the sum of Two thousand
