I,Katherine W.Howell,single woman,of the City of
Uniontown,Fayette County,Pennsylvania,being of sound and dis-
posing mind and memory,do make,publish and declare this as and
for my last will and testament.
FIRST.I hereby revoke and declare null,void and of
no effect any former will or wills by me at any time heretofore
made.
SECOND.I hereby order and direct my executor herein-
after named to pay all of my just debts and funeral expenses as soon
as conveniently may be after my decease.
THIRD.I hereby request that I be buried in the family
lot at Oak Grove Cemetery,Uniontown,Pennsylvania,originally
owned by my father,the late Alfred Howell.The care of said
cemetery lot haVing been provided for in the last will and testa-
ment of my sister,Frances Howell,which said last will and
testament was dated November 2,1914,probated in January,1915,
and appears of record in the Office of the Register of Wills of
said Fayette County in Will Book Vol.18_page 351,and the sum of
three hundred ($300.00)dollars having been by her set aside for
said purpose,which said sum is now in my possession for administer-
ing,I hereby direct my said executor to retain and set aside said
sum and to hold and administer the same for said purpose as provided
for in the said last will and testament of my said sister.
FOURTH.I hereby give,devise and bequeath unto the
Rector,Wardens and Vestrymen of St.Peter's Episcopal Church of
Uniontown,Fayette County,Pennsylvania,the sum of one thousand
($1,000.00)dollars,which said sum shall be carefully invested

and held in trust for the following purposes,to-wit:
1.To use and pay each year all or such portion
of the annual income therefrom as may be necessary for
the choir and music of said church.
2.To use and pay each year any part or portion
of the annual income therefrom as may not be needed
and used as aforesaid for the choir and mUBic of the
church,for any church purpose which in the opinion
and judgment of the Vestry may seem proper.
I hereby direct that this bequest shall be free from and clear
of the payment of any collateral inheritance,succession,direct
or other taxes,whether imposed by ~tate,Federal or other
authority,and shall also be free from and clear of the payment
of commissions and/or charges of any sort or nature whatsoever,
the payment of any such taxes,commissions and/or charges to be
borne and paid by my estate;it being my intention and desire
that the full amount of this bequest be paid without any deduction
whatsoever.
FIFTH.I hereby give,devise and bequeath unto the
Board of Missions of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the
Diocese of Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania,by such corporate name as
it may have at the time of my death,the sum of one thousand
($1,000.00)dollars,which said sum shall be carefully invested
and held for the following purpose,to-wit:
1.To use,pay and apply the income therefrom for
and to the general work of the Diocese under the direction
of the Board.
The same provision as to taxes,commissions and/or charges as
appears in the bequest contained in Item FOURTH hereof shall
obtain in this bequest.

SIXTH.I hereby give,devise and bequeath unto Augusta
Johnson Jackson,wife of Richard Jackson (colored),the sum of
two hundred ($200.00)dollars.In the event that the said Augusta
Johnson Jackson should predecease me,then the said sum of two
hundred ($200.00)dollars shall revert to and become a part of the
residuary of my estate.
SEVENTH.I hereby give,devise and bequeath unto
Josephine White,now of Star Junction,Pennsylvania,who was for
many years in our home and who was unfailing in her service and
high sense of honor and responsibility,the sum of one thousand
($1,000.00)dollars.In the event that the said Josephine White
should predecease me,then the said sum of one thousand ($1,000.00)
dollars shall revert to and become a part of the residuary of my
estate.
EIGHTH.I hereby give,devise and bequeath unto Elizabeth
Reppert Semans,daughter of my sister,Ellen Howell Reppert,the
house and lot where I now reside,at No.136 South Beeson Avenue,
Uniontown,Pennsylvania.
NINTH.I hereby give,devise and bequeath unto the
aforesaid Elizabeth Reppert Semans_the spare room set of furniture
formerly belonging to my mother,and also the portraits of Grand-
mother and Grandfather Dawson.
TENTH.I hereby give,devise and bequeath unto Ellen
Reppert Semans and Adaline Walker Semans,daughters of Elizabeth
Reppert Semans,all furniture,rugs,portraits,pictures,silverware,
books,china and my own personal effe cts whi ch shall remain and be
in my home at the time of my death and not otherwise disposed of
herein;any part or portion thereof which they do not want,to be
given to Josephine White,Augusta Johnson Jackson,and/or such
others as may wish them.
ELEVENTH.I hereby give,devise and bequeath unto my
grandniece,the aforesaid Ellen Reppert Semans,the sum of four
thousand ($4,OOO.OO)dollars,and also my carved wood cabinet
from Japan.
TWELFTH.I hereby g1 ve,devise and bequeath unto my
grandniece,the aforesaid Adaline vialker Semans,the sum of four
thousand ($4,000.00)dollars,and also my tea table from Japan.
THIRTEENTH.I hereby give,devise and bequeath unto my
grandniece,Margaret Rowe,the portrait of my great grandmother,
Anna Blackwood Howell,my fish fork from The Hague,and the sum
of one hundred (100.00)dollars.In the event that the said
Margaret Rowe shall not have attained the age of twenty-one years
at the time of my death,then I hereby name and appoint her father,
Charles Rowe,as testamentary guardian to receipt for this bequest.
FOURTEENTH.I hereby give,devise and bequeath unto my
niece,Frances Howell Warren,the sum of five thousand ($5,000.00)
dollars,and also the painting of my grandmother,Frances Howell.
FIFTEENTH.I hereby g1 ve,devise and bequeath unto my
nephew, George Dawson Howell,the sum of five thousand ($5,000.00)
dollars,and also the portraits of my father,mother and Major
Joseph Howell.
SIXTEENTH.I hereby give,devise and bequeath unto my
grandnephew,George Howell Kidder,the sum of five hundred ($500.00)
dollars;and I hereby name and appoint Julia Howell Kidder,mother
of the said George Howell Kidder,or in the event that she should
predecease me,then the father of my said grandnephew,testamentary
guardian to receipt for this bequest.
SEVENTEENTH.All the rest,residue and remainder of my
estate,whether real,personal or mixed,and wheresoever the same
may be situate,and including my undivided two-fifths interest in
certain Freeport and other veins of coal underlying land in Dunbar
Township,Fayette County,Pennsylvania,title to which was most
recently vested in my father,the late Alfred Howell,deceased,I
give,devise and bequeath as follows,to-wit:
1.The one-half part or portion thereof unto the
children of my deceased brother,George Dawson Howell,
per stirpes.
2.The other one-half part or portion thereof unto
the Union Trust Company of Pittsburgh,Pittsburgh,Penn-
sylvania,in trust,however,for the folloWing uses and
purposes,to-wit:
(a)To pay the income therefrom in quarterly
installments unto my niece,Elizabeth Reppert Semans,
for and during the remainder of her natural life.
(b)Upon the ~eath of the said Elizabeth Reppert
Semans,to divide the corpus of said trust estate into
two equal parts or portions and to turn over,deliver
and/or pay one of said parts or portions unto the afore-
said Ellen Reppert Semans_or,in the event of her death,
unto her issue;and the other part or portion thereof
unto the aforesaid Adaline Walker Semans_or,in the
event of her death,unto her issue.In the event
that either the aforesaid Ellen Reppert Semans or
Adaline Walker Semans should predecease their mother,
the aforesaid Elizabeth Reppert Semans,without
leaving issue,then her share or portion of this trust
estate shall be paid unto the other,or to the issue
of the other.In the event that both the said Ellen

Reppert Semans and Adaline Walker Semans should pre-
decease their said mother,without either of them
leaving issue,then this trust shall terminate and
the entire corpus thereof shall forthwith be turned
over,delivered and/or paid by my said Trustee unto
the said Elizabeth Reppert Semans.
If,in the best judgment of the Trustee herein named
and appointed it becomes necessary or advisable to sell any
interest in real estate which shall constitute a portion of this
trust,then I hereby give and grant unto said Trustee full and
complete authority to sell,either at public or private sale,and
without order of Court,any and/or all of such interest in real
estate,with full power to make,execute and deliver the necessary
deed or deeds therefor.
EIGHmENTH.I hereby name,constitute and appoint as
the sole executor of this my last will and testament The Union
Trust Company of Pittsburgh,Pi ttsburgh,Pennsylvania.

have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal this
17th day of June A.D.1936.
