ITEM II.All of the rest,residue and remainder of my estate,both real and personal,of whatsoever nature and wheresoever situate,which I may own or have the right to dispose of at the time of my decease,I give,devise and bequeath to my husband,Arthur A.Hays,to be his absolutely.In case my husband, Arthur A.Hays,should predecease me,then upon such event,I direct the following: (a)I give and bequeath to Mrs.Grace Hays Johnson of Greensboro,North Carolina,or her heirs,the sum of Five Thousand ($5,000.00)Dollars. (b)I give and bequeath to Dr.and Mrs.Harry C.Hays of Bonner Springs, Kansas,or their heirs,the sum of Ten Thousand ($10,000.00)Dollars. (c)I give and bequeath to Mrs.Walter H~s of Palo Alto,California,or her heirs,the sum of Ten Thousand ($10,000.00)Dollars. (d)I give and bequeath to Mrs.Charles H.Robinson of Wheeling,West Virginia,the sum of Five Thousand ($5,000.00)Dollars. (e)I give and bequeath to Reverend and s.Ernest H.Carson,or the survivor thereof,the sum of Five Thousand ($5,000.00)Dollars. (f)All of the rest,residue and remainder of my estate,I give,devise and bequeath to The McCormick Theological Seminary located in the City of Chicago, Illinois,to establish the Arthur A.Hays and Mary Johnston Hays Fellowship in the Historical Department of The McCormick Theological Seminary, IN TRUST NEVERTHELESS,for the following uses and purposes: (1)To pay out of the income therefrom,quarterly,to Mi s Hilda Mathisen of Aniwa,Wisconsln,the sum of Seventy-five ($75.00)Dollars for and during the term of her natural life. (2)To pay out of the income therefrom,quarterly,to iss Mary DeBure cCurqy of Freeport,Pennsylvania,the sum of One Hundred Fifty ($150.00)Dollars for and during the term of her natural life. (3)The net income remaining after the payments provided for in (1) and (2)hereinabove,shall be used for the benefit of the Arthur A.Hays and Mary Johnston Hays Fellowship in the Historical Department of The cCormick Theological Seminary and if said income is not all consumed for this purpose,that remaining shall be used for the benefit of the Arthur A.Hays Inter-Racial Fellowship. After the death of Miss Hilda Mathisen and Miss Mary DeBure McCurdy the portion of the income herein directed to be paid to them shall be used for the benefit of the Arthur A.Hays and Mary Johnston Hays Fellowship as provided for in (J)• ITEM III.I direct my executor,hereinafter named,to pay all the inheritance,estate,succession and legacy taxes to which my estate,or the trans- fer of any property hereunder may be subject and to charge such taxes as a part of the expense of administration,same to be paid out of the residue of my estate.
