The purpose of a Trust is to leave your estate or part of your estate intact;to have it managed by some one who is experi- enced and competent;and to apportion ~the income as you may specify;to relieve your family or hei rs of.the burdens and pitfalls of property management;to avoid the necessity of selling property or a business or securities,In order to ,divide the proceeds among several heirs.~ .; How can I arrange for a 1;rust? You name a Trustee for your Estate in your Will. You can specify what you want him to do:.You can leave very little or a great deal to his discretion -just as you wish. Whom can I name as Trustee? You can name an Individual or a Trust Company. When you name a Trust Com- pany you are assured of these four things: 1.Your Trustee will be a permanent institu- tion.No danger of the management of your estate being impaired by illness or death,as may easily be the case when the responsibility rests with an individual..~ 2.Your Trustee will not only be experienced, but will consist of an organization that knows how to keep capital and property at work -not merely depending on the judg- ment of one man. 3.Your Trustee will be impartial -no per- sonal prejudices or interests. 4.Your Trustee will be thoroughly respon- sible -properly organized to handle the duties competently and completely, and equipped to give your heirs prompt, ancl exact accounting. JUST AS WITH YOUR Life Insurance Policies • • ..SO WITH YOUR WILL Life insurance policies and wills are probably the papers of greatest import- ance most people ever sign. Both extend the management of the signer's affairs far beyond the limit of his natural life. What you do or do not do in both of these very personal matters not only af- fects the distribution of all there is left for others, but also the very future life of those to whom any kind or amount of property is to be bequeathed. The making of a will,no matter what your age,is wise and logical. You provi- dently designate certain beneficiaries in your insurance policies,no matter what your age when you buy them. You should just as clearly specify by making a will, what future disposition is to be made of assets not apportioned through insurance. And just as you change your insurance beneficiaries as marriages,deaths,econo- mic changes in property ratios and other vital factors affect your personal relation- ships,so should you make judicious al- terations in your will when change of circumstance calls for alteration from time to time. Whatever your policies, whatever your will, its codicils and all related papers ...make certain of their guarded preser- vation.Have them removed from reach of any form of loss, from any chance of tampering. "Searching For The Will"was an ex- perience common to secret -panel and hidden -drawer days. Now we have Safe Deposit Vaults which offer to all a pri- vate and convenient depository with com- plete protection for everything documen- tary that should be preserved for future use and reference ...the safety and its cost both being conducive to pleasant and positive peace of mind. ." Securities usually have a market value and are readily cashable. At the time they are bought, they may offer a satisfactory .yield.So,at first glance it might seem that they would present no particular complications to heirs. Yet,you know from your own experience how necessary it is to be alert to every in- dustrial and market change j how vital a part shrewd judgment plays, nat only in the selection of securities, but in deter- mining when to sell or convert them,in order to conserve the money invested, and have it bring adequate returns. Managing investments is the very foun- dation .of the business of the Trust De- partm~.nt of this bank. When we act as Trustee, our seasoned experience and watchfulness of trends operate for·the benefit of heirs.Securities are periodical- ly reviewed and studied,to decide the best course in protecting the estate,in- creasing its earning power,or adding to its value. No matter what form of property you are accumulating, you are interested in two primary things: 1.Halving your estate safeguarded, and managed to b1'ing the great- est possible income and gain to )'our lamily. 2.H GIving the plans you have made, t:ll,.ried tIL rough. SECURITY • y..au have noticed that stocks and .~bonds are always engraved or litho- graphed in a manner to identify them immediately as "important papers" -even to the hurried glance. This is an extra precaution and safe-' guard. If securities were designed as or- dinary pieces of printed matter, without any quickly-apparent character, there is no question but what many more of them would be mislaid or accidentally thrown away. The very fact that legal provision is made for replacing securities which may become lost,is evidence that such docu- ments do become lost when preserved with only ordinary care. Naturally you aim to exercise every pos- sible caution in the safekeeping of your securities. You may feel that you are do- ing so.Yet you can only be sure of it,if you keep them in a Safe Deposit Box. No matter what facilities for protection you may have in your office or home,at best, they can only be "second best". • YOUR Valuable Papers, either directly or indirect- ly,represent a certain amount of money. If you had the money instead of the papers, you wo~ldn't keep it on your person,in your home or in your office. You would put it in the bank. For the same reasons the papers themselves,to be thoroughly safeguarded, should be-put in- to a Safe Deposit Box. -------~ ()E I 'J-'Ja~1-cod,::'I'/f"'-:exec J 10.-'\"/(J <!touutn of Bushiugtnut !lli.
